Some Effects of Borax on the Polarisation of Sugar Solutions
نویسندگان
چکیده
During investigations of the specific rotation of gums, Jennings6 found that the addition of 20 ml. 5 per cent borax solution depressed the pol of pure sucrose by more than 2 per cent. Since other investigators had found similar discrepancies with the original experimental results of Hernandez it was decided that the whole question of using borax to obtain close approximations of sucrose content by direct polarisation should be re-examined.

Effect of sodium tetraborate (borax) on the thermal properties of frozen aqueous sugar and polyol solutions.
The effect of sodium tetraborate (Na(2)B(4)O(7), borax) on the thermal property of frozen aqueous sugar and polyol solutions was studied through thermal analysis. Addition of borax raised the thermal transition temperature (glass transition temperature of maximally freeze-concentrated solutes; T(g)') of frozen sucrose solutions depending on the borax/sucrose concentration ratios. Changes in the...
متن کاملEffects of Nanosilver in Improving Fire-Retarding Properties of Borax in Solid Woods
Effects of heat-transferring property of silver nanoparticles were evaluated on two solid woods of poplar and fir and in combination with Borax. Nanosilver and Borax were applied in pressure vessel using Rueping method. The size range of silver nanoparticles was 20-80 nm. Specimens of 150×130×9 mm were prepared and five fire-retarding properties were measured using a newly designed slide fire t...

متن کاملEvaluation of Mutagenic Potentials of Some Food Additives by Ames Test
Some chemicals used by human such as food additives are mutagenic and mutagenicity effects analysis of them is very important because of considerable consumption by man. One of the most common methods used in the recognition of the chemicals' mutagenicity is Salmonella Typhimurium Reverse Mutation (Ames) test. The purpose of the present study is mutagenicity effects analysis of sodium nitrite, ...
متن کاملThe Conversion Kinetics of Tincal to Boric Acid in Nitric Acid Solutions
Pure borax and various boron compounds are produced from the solutions in which tincal is dissolved with various reagents. Economically important boron compounds such as boric acid, borax, boric oxide, and refined hydrated sodium borates and perborates are produced from boron-containing ores. The production of boric acid by using nitric acid from tincal is more advantageous because it evalu...
